1.) What inspired you to write this book?
I had dreamed of writing a book for so long but honestly, and I’m just going to say it, I never had the courage to do it. Whenever I would start to think that maybe I could these the ugly, nagging thoughts would tell me that I would never make it, that I’m just not good enough and it stopped me cold. I hadn’t put a pen to paper in years because of the fear of rejection. I would, however, read anything and everything. A few years ago I was introduced to a community of authors who gave me inspiration and showed me that my dream is possible. With the encouragement of my husband, Nathan, I decided to go for it.. and what a ride it has been so far!
2.) Who’s your favorite character and why?
This is almost an impossible question. It is a bit like asking me to pick a favorite child. Each of my characters have traits that I am drawn to for one reason or another. Eden, the MC, is genuine, strong-willed, and filled with a curiosity for the world that’s always changing around her. She reminds me of my own daughter and I truly have loved watching her transformation throughout the series.
3.) If your book had a candle what name and scent would you chose?
What a great question! There is a scene in EAS where Eden is learning to harness her newfound gift using a feather. I would choose a soft, clean scent with a hint of floral undertones and I would call it Feathered.
4.) What’s your writing routine?
I don’t really have a routine. I have a 17 year-old daughter and a 11 year-old son so my house is a constant hub of action. I basically write whenever and wherever I can; usually it’s late at night or very early in the morning before everyone is awake.
5.) Pantser or Plotter?
I refer to myself as a Planter- half plotter and half pantser.
6.) Is there a snack or drink you have on hand while writing?
7.) Book you’re currently reading?
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff- If you haven’t experienced this book yet stop what you are doing and run out and get it. The idea behind it is so original that I’m almost jealous. haha. You have to get the actual book though, I’m not sure an ebook would do it justice.
8.) What are you currently writing?
I am currently working on the third and final book in the Echo series, Fire Among Stars. It’s more difficult than I thought it would be to say goodbye to these characters and because of this it’s the hardest thing I’ve had to write to date but most definitely the best work I’ve done. It’s my gift to the fans of the series.
9.) Where should we go to follow you on social media?
I am all over social media and love to interact with readers!
Thanks so much to JoAnna S. Morris for taking the time to chat with us at Pageburners! I hope you all enjoyed the insight. I know I did.
